David Ross Education Trust Summer Cup 2016

The David Ross Education Trust Summer Cup 2016 was a festival of competitive sport attended by over 1,500 students and a host of elite athletes. This year's special guests included Roger Black MBE, Colin Jackson CBE, Rebecca Adlington OBE and Beth Tweddle MBE to name but a few.

Rebecca Adlington - David Ross Education Trust 2016 Summer Cup




It has been announced that Rebecca Adlington, two-time Olympic Gold medallist and British sporting icon, will also attend David Ross Education Trust  2016 Summer Cup.
The Trust-wide event, which takes place in just over three weeks time, will be attended by a host of sporting superstars and Rebecca is the latest name to be included in the line-up.
In previous years, Lord Coe, Dame Kelly Holmes and Denise Lewis have been picked to cheer on DRET students.
Rebecca won two gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and she has had a career full of success. The iconic star will be overseeing the various events and talking to students from across the Trust at this year’s Summer Cup.
Shane Ward, Sports Enrichment Manager, said: “Having Rebecca join our legion of sporting greats who have attended the event is fantastic news for everyone.
“Rebecca is an inspiration to young people, and we can’t wait for her to see the amazing talent that we have at DRET.”

EXCITED schoolchildren were left thrilled by some super skills at the annual David Ross Education Trust (DRET) Primary Cup North.There were seven primary schools from across the northern DRET cluster at Havelock for the fun-packed day.Havelock Academy hosted the big event yesterday, which saw Loughborough Lightning and England netballers Jo Tripp and Natalie Panagarry and former Manchester United footballer Danny Webber helping out with special master classes for the pupils.Football freestyler Dan Magness was also there to showcase some of his ball skills to the impressed youngsters, and teach them a few new tricks!
